To Renovate Or Move?
The most debated question regarding homes always seems to
be, to renovate or move? There are many reasons to renovate your home when
features become outdated or don’t run as smoothly as they once did. However, if
you want to renovate the majority of your home, maybe it’s time to move.
Here are four simple questions to ask yourself when you are deciding to renovate or move.
1. Is your property still not going to meet your expectations after renovation? If this is the case, moving is your best bet. There’s no reason to spend all that money and time to renovate your home and still not be satisfied with the outcome.
2. How much will it cost to renovate and is it similar to moving? It’s good to compare the costs of renovating and moving, to see which is the better option for you. Something to keep in mind when renovating is to stay in your home for a handful of years after renovating in order for the renovations to be worthwhile.
3. Are you compromising by renovating or doing what’s best for you? We all compromise, that’s a part of being human. But before deciding to renovate, ask yourself, is adding an extra bathroom and expanding your house worth it? Or would moving into a bigger home with space already built be better for you? Weigh the benefits of both and come to a decision that works best for you.
4. Are you settling with your house? If you don’t like the place you call home, it’s probably time to consider renovating or moving. You should feel comfortable and enjoy being in your home.
Have you always wanted to renovate parts of your house, but weren’t sure if it was worth it? Now you can ask yourself these questions and see if you should renovate or move.
