Paint Tips For Different Rooms
Looking to repaint a room and don’t know which color looks best? Here are some tips to guide you in the right direction when choosing
a color for a specific room.
1.
Painting Any Room
·
Your local hardware store has paint samples
·
Start painting splotches up on the wall to
compare colors
·
Look at the room in the daytime and nighttime to
see the colors in a different light
2.
Painting a Smaller Room
·
Choose colors that are lighter, light colors =
brighter room
·
If you choose a glossier paint, light will
reflect off of it
·
Have the trim be a similar color to the walls
·
A color scheme helps make a room more spacious
·
Stripes will enhance the size of the room –
horizontal stripes, as you may expect, will expand a room's width, while
vertical strips will increase a room’s height
3.
Painting a Larger Room
·
If a room seems large, darker and warmer tones
work best
·
Paint the ceiling a similar color to the walls to enclose the space
4.
Having a Feature Stand Out
·
Paint a specific feature a color that is
opposite of the room
·
Use a trim around the feature to have it stand
out
5.
Hiding a Feature
·
Heating units, wires, or anything that you want to go unnoticed, you can paint over with a color to match the wall
6.
Quiet, Relaxing Room
·
A room dedicated to reading, writing,
meditating, etc.
·
Colors that give off a stress-free space include
pastel colors – light pinks, blues, or purples
7.
Loud, Bold Room
·
A room for entertainment or a lively setting
·
Vibrant colors reflect the energy of the room –
greens, blues, or reds
Paint is affordable and an easy way to remodel a room without spending a fortune. You can hire someone to paint or you can get a group of 3-5 people together. It shouldn’t take more than a couple of days to paint a room.
