Before Listing Your Home, Check out These 3 Tips
Selling your home this year? Before listing your home, check
out these three tips that will show your home in its best light. It’s never too early to start preparing your home before it hits the market.
1.
Declutter and Deep Clean
·
Declutter before cleaning. Donate your unwanted
items to charity or post the items on a neighborhood group asking if anyone
wants it.
·
Leave larger items on your curb. Garbage and
Recycle should be able to take care of these items at no cost.
·
Deep clean your whole house. This will take the
most time. The more help, the better! The kitchen, bathrooms, and windows are
most important when deep cleaning. If you don’t have a ton of time, pay special
attention to these areas.
·
Organize bookshelves, nightstands, offices, etc.
Have your books aligned and in place. Any pens and pencils lying around put in
a drawer or in a penholder.
2.
Fix Small Repairs and Updates
·
Fix any leakage, such as a faucet or toilet.
·
Check windows for cracks or damaged screens.
·
Remove old caulk and replace it with new caulk
around sinks, showers, and tubs.
·
Update paint colors in a neutral tone for buyers
to visualize your home as their home.
·
Change out burnt light bulbs and update lighting
fixtures as needed.
3.
Curb Appeal is Key
·
Clean up shrubs, bushes, and trees.
·
Add new mulch, landscaping rocks, plants and
flowers.
·
Fix any cracks in your driveway or walkways.
·
Pull weeds that are around your driveway and in the cracks.
· Have a welcome mat and make sure your house numbers are visible, if not, get a custom sign made with your numbers.
These three tips will have your listing stand out from other homes. Not only is it crucial to have your house looking fresh for photos, but also for showings. Keeping your house clean and organized throughout the selling process will put your mind at ease.
